Highlights:
Reps. Emily Randall (D-Wash.), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.), and Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) reintroduced the Tribal Emergency Response Resources Act (H.R.3654). The bill would streamline tribal nations’ access to the federal resources needed to respond to extreme weather events and sea level rise.
Reps. John James (R-Mich.), Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.), and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) reintroduced the Securing America’s Critical Minerals Supply Act (H.R.3617) to strengthen the Department of Energy’s capacity to identify domestic critical mineral needs and address supply chain vulnerabilities. Critical minerals have numerous applications in clean energy technologies, from wind turbines and solar panels to electric vehicle components and the electric grid itself.
Rep. Kim Schrier (D-Wash.), alongside Reps. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.), Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.), and John Moolenaar (R-Mich.), introduced a bill (H.R.3656) to support specialty crop farmers. Specifically, the bill would increase agricultural research institutions’ access to federal funding through the Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI), which supports climate-smart practices such as precision irrigation.
