A live webcast will be streamed at www.eesi.org/livecast.
The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and the Center for Regulatory Ingenuity at the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) invite you to a briefing about how states can lay the foundation for a new era of federal environmental policy that is effective, durable, and popular. Public trust in government is at historic lows. To restore it, governments must demonstrate they can deliver on everyday issues like affordable housing and reliable energy—as well as on long-term challenges like extreme weather and grid resilience. In some cases, outdated processes make it difficult for agencies to implement even the most well-designed policies.
This briefing will delineate the components of a durable environmental policy framework, including effective institutional design, a climate-ready workforce, strong public participation and stakeholder engagement, streamlined administrative processes, and outcomes-oriented program delivery. Panelists will also discuss how new policies can address capacity and implementation challenges for both near-term and longer-term legislative priorities. The briefing will be followed by a reception.
