SUMMARY:EESI & FAS Briefing | From Ambition to Action: State Capacity and the Next Era of Environmental Policy
URL:eesi.org/120226policy
DESCRIPTION:eesi.org/120226policy\nFrom Ambition to Action: State Capacity and the Next Era of Environmental Policy\nWednesday\, December 2\, 2026 • 3:00 - 4:30 PM EST\nReception to follow\nRayburn House Office Building (RHOB 2075) \nPlease RSVP @eesi.org/120226policy#RSVP\nLive webcast will be streamed at eesi.org/livecast\n\nThe Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and the Center for Regulatory Ingenuity at the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) invite you to a briefing about how states can lay the foundation for a new era of federal environmental policy that is effective\, durable\, and popular. Public trust in government is at historic lows. To restore it\, governments must demonstrate they can deliver on everyday issues like affordable housing and reliable energy—as well as on long-term challenges like extreme weather and grid resilience. In some cases\, outdated processes make it difficult for agencies to implement even the most well-designed policies. \n\nThis briefing will delineate the components of a durable environmental policy framework\, including effective institutional design\, a climate-ready workforce\, strong public participation and stakeholder engagement\, streamlined administrative processes\, and outcomes-oriented program delivery. Panelists will also discuss how new policies can address capacity and implementation challenges for both near-term and longer-term legislative priorities. The briefing will be followed by a reception.\n\nSpeakers for this session include:\n\nLoren DeJonge Schulman\, Director for Government Capacity\, Federation of American Scientists\n\nLaurel Blatchford\, Director\, Delivery Associates\n\nJames-Christian Blockwood\, President and CEO\, National Academy of Public Administration\n\nRobert Shea\, CEO\, GovNavigators\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. For more information\, contact Daniel O’Brien at dobrien@eesi.org or (202) 662-1880. \nDon’t miss a single briefing: subscribe to our YouTube channel at youtube.com/eesionline
