The White House has released a broad blueprint for the nation’s bioeconomy – describing ways the federal government can help develop and advance a broad range of new, cutting edge technologies, from bioenergy and bio-based products to health care.

On April 26, the White House released the National Bioeconomy Blueprint. The document outlines five strategic objectives for the federal government to advance the bioeconomy, including:

  • Supporting investment in basic research and development.
  • Facilitating moving new technologies from the research lab to markets.
  • Reforming out-dated and dysfunctional regulatory processes while protecting public health and safety.
  • Developing the national workforce needed to advance the bioeconomy.
  • Developing public-private partnerships and pre-competitive collaborations.
