Most negotiations happened behind closed doors today, with few updates for observers. According to the Presidency’s last comments, a more finalized package on finance, ambition gaps in nationally determined contributions (NDCs), trade, and transparency reporting is still expected to surface today. Since our last Dispatch issue, the Presidency has released draft negotiation texts on topics such as national adaptation plans and the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage.
The number of countries calling for a fossil fuel phaseout roadmap has jumped to 83, while support for a deforestation roadmap has grown to more than 40 countries, according to Climate Diplomacy Brief. Supporters are hoping to see both initiatives integrated into COP30 outcomes. For additional updates on the negotiations, see the Earth Negotiations Bulletin’s comprehensive daily reports and quick highlights.
