Highlights:
Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Todd Young (R-Ind.), and Gary Peters (D-Mich.) introduced the Pipeline Integrity, Protection, and Enhancement for Leveraging Investments in the Nation’s Energy to assure Safety Act of 2025 (PIPELINE Safety Act) (S.2975) to improve the safety of domestic energy transportation. The bill would reauthorize the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s pipeline safety program for five years and authorize $1.65 billion to fund safety, education, and technology improvements.
Reps. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) and Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.) reintroduced the Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Program (TAAP) Reauthorization Act (H.R.5709), which reauthorizes the TAAP to support research on the security, quantity, and quality of groundwater in communities along the United States-Mexico border. The program was established in 2006 to facilitate collaboration between Mexican and U.S. agencies and universities.
Rep. April McClain Delaney (D-Md.) introduced the Federal Agricultural Relief Maintained during Shutdowns and Federal Emergencies (FARM SAFE) Act (H.R.5716), alongside democratic cosponsors. The bill would ensure agricultural producers receive disaster assistance during times of federal uncertainty, including government shutdowns, by protecting the U.S. Department of Agriculture personnel responsible for providing assistance from being furloughed or terminated. Reps. Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.), Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.), and Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) reintroduced the Marine Energy Technologies Acceleration Act (H.R.5692), which aims to provide $1 billion to advance clean energy technologies from marine resources, such as currents and tidal power. The funds would support marine energy demonstration projects, mapping, research and development, permitting, and workforce development.
