Unleash Your Donor-Advised Fund to Advance Climate Solutions!

Do you have a donor-advised fund (DAF) or charitable giving account? Put it to work for climate change action!

DAFs can be a great way to advance urgently-needed equitable climate solutions—and potentially unlock matching funds to help your grant go further!

 

Why Now?

The importance of providing science-based resources to U.S. policymakers is greater than ever before. It is urgent to increase the legislative branch's capacity to understand and address technical, scientific, environmental, and climate issues. With your DAF grant, you make possible key resources that increase the scientific and technical expertise of the legislative branch.

So much more needs to be done as we have just passed the halfway point in this decisive decade for climate action. More attention is needed on fossil fuel subsidies, adaptation and community resilience for climate impacts that cannot be avoided, and environmental justice.

 

The #HalfMyDAF Challenge

If you want to go even further and take DAF giving up to the next level, we have the perfect opportunity for you. The #HalfMYDAF challenge was created to encourage DAF owners like you to grant out half the funds in their DAF—to power the causes you care so much about!

Please consider committing to give out half of the funds in your DAF. Deadlines are end of day June 18, 2026 for the spring drawing and end of day October 8, 2026 for the fall drawing, with grant recipients announced the following week.

Grants must be for at least $250 to qualify for matches.

A total of $2.5 million in matching funds is available to nonprofits—please help unlock some of these matching funds for urgently needed climate solutions!

 

How?

STEP 1: Make a gift to EESI from your donor-advised fund. Click on the box to go directly to the website of your donor-advised fund and make your first gift in spending down half your DAF's balance right now.

STEP 2: Once you have designated half the funds in your DAF for specific charities, fill out this form to increase the chances of doubling your impact for climate solutions via bonus funds! (Their 2026 form interface walks you through the questions in an intuitive, step-by-step way.)
