EPA Announces Final Rule for Renewable Fuel Standard Program  

On April 10, 2007, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the finalized regulations for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) Program for 2007 and Beyond.

The following items have been established by this rule:

• Annual renewable fuel standards
• Responsibilities of refiners and other fuel producers
• Trading system and other compliance mechanisms
• Recordkeeping and reporting requirements.

Furthermore, the EPA has published a Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), which contains analyses of the economic and environmental impacts of the expanded use of renewable fuels under this program.
