Renewable Energy Funding from House Agriculture Appropriations

Wednesday May 3, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture marked up their appropriations bill. We are pleased to report that Sec. 9006 the Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvements program is funded at $20 million discretionary, plus $3 million mandatory for a total of $23 million, which makes the program fully funded.  The popular (Sec. 6401) Value-added Producer Grant program is funded at $28 million in mandatory funds, down from its original authorization of $40 million for FY07, but up from its final appropriation of $20.5 million in FY06.  The House bill now will go to the full committee for consideration and then to the House floor.  The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture has not yet scheduled their markup of the bill.  Thanks to everyone who has supported these programs! And, your continuing support will be essential as the appropriations process moves forward.
