The
Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) is pleased
to announce the appointment of Christopher Schepis to its
Board of Directors in January 2004.
Mr. Schepis currently represents the National Farmers
Union (NFU) in
Washington
,
DC
, which is comprised of 300,000 owner-operated family farms
and ranches throughout 27 states.
Many of NFU’s members have a long-standing policy
of support and advocacy for renewable fuels use.
Mr. Schepis is also a resource on renewable energy to
the National Commission on Energy Policy.
In 1987 to 1992,
Mr. Schepis was special projects director for former U.S.
Senator Wyche Fowler, Jr. (D-GA), then chairman of the
Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation and
Forestry. During
the 1996 farm bill negotiations, he was senior legislative
aide to Congressman Sanford Bishop (GA-2), a member of the
House Agriculture Committee.
Mr. Schepis’
career has also included serving as a
Washington
,
DC
legislative consultant, a former faculty member of
Georgia
College
and
State
University
, and a government representative for The Georgia
Conservancy, Inc.
The
Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) is a
non-profit organization established in 1984 by a bipartisan
group of Congressional leaders and dedicated to promoting
environmentally sustainable societies.
EESI's mission is to produce credible, timely information and innovative policy
ideas that lead to sustainable societies and to effect
change through coalition building, media outreach,
publications, briefings, workshops and task forces on the
issues of energy efficiency and renewable energy,
transportation, sustainable communities, and global climate
change. EESI is
particularly well-known for its educational Congressional
briefings.
