Recycled Energy and Regional
CHP
Application
Centers:
A Local Energy Solution
December 14,
2005
2:00 - 3:00
p.m., 122 Cannon
House Office Building
The Northeast-Midwest
Institute, Northeast-Midwest Congressional and Senate Coalitions and
Environmental and Energy Study Institute invite you to a
briefing addressing regional applications of combined heat and
power. Combined heat
and power (
CHP
) technologies offer solutions to many of the problems and
challenges this nation faces:
high energy costs, environmental degradation, electricity
grid congestion and blackouts, a need for stable and economical
energy to support vibrant economies, and energy emergencies.
However, the adoption of these technologies requires
addressing numerous barriers to their ability to compete.
Moreover, most of these barriers are state and region
specific. The U.S.
Department of Energy’s Office of Distributed Energy has created
an effective strategy to overcome these barriers at the state and
regional level through a network of Regional
CHP
Application Centers (RACs). This
briefing will focus on the RACs, what they do, how effective they
are, and why they are needed.
