Help EESI Translate Copenhagen Climate Negotiations into U.S. Leadership

2009 has been a banner year for climate and clean energy in the United States and around the globe. The U.S. House passed landmark legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. President Obama announced that the United States would reduce its emissions, setting the stage for the climate negotiations now underway in Copenhagen. Congress needs to move ahead--and EESI needs to be ready--when these negotiations are completed. Can I count on you to make a gift to EESI, so we will be ready to help? On December 7, 56 newspapers took the unprecedented step of running a single editorial on climate change. Here are a few excerpts:
The science is complex but the facts are clear. The world needs to take steps to limit temperature rises to 2°C, an aim that will require global emissions to peak and begin falling within the next 5-10 years... Even now the world finds itself at the mercy of American domestic politics, for the president cannot fully commit to the action required until the U.S. Congress has done so...
-- Miami Herald and 55 other newspapers
This shows why EESI's work next year will be more critical than ever. It's why I am writing to you today. Your gift will enable EESI to continue its unique work educating policymakers, building coalitions, and providing innovative policy options to keep moving our country toward win-win solutions on climate change. When you donate today, you can rest assured that your donation will be managed efficiently. For the third year, Charity Navigator--the premiere evaluator of charities--has issued its top rating (four stars) to EESI. And a gift to EESI won't mean clogging your mailbox with requests from other organizations--we never share, trade, or sell your information. So will you take a moment to make a secure online donation today?
